so ill start by saying im not very good at all with cars.. i have a 92 civic and recently anytime i slow down (ex. to stop at a stop sign or red light) my car starts to idle very hard or chug i guess you could say. then it will lose all power. it also sounds simaler to a lawn mower when i am accelerating most of the time. also tonight when i was pulling in my drive way i heard almost like a rattling coming from the back on the side the exhust is on. another thing i have noticed is that the meter showing how many miles driven, (the one you can reset) seems to be increasing too fast. i know its not measuring kms per hour because kms per hour is what im used to (being from canada) ex. i drive 14 kms the meter tells me i drove 141. any idea what this problem could be? i plan on replacing the plugs and plug wires very soon as im not sure when the last time they were replaced that couldnt hurt i know. and another thing i was gonna do is get my buddy to check out the exhust and manifold to see if theres something there, any other advice would be greatly appreciated. i know theres quite a few things here but i really dont want to scrap this car and start over. thanks in advance and let me know if additional info is needed..

oh and when i first start the car i can smell gas sometimes and also after driving for a while u can smell the exhust inside the car...

its possible that it has jumped time and if i was you i would take it to a mechanic and find out if it has for sure and if it did you need to get the timing belt changed

yaa thats what my buddy said im gonna take it in tomorrow and get it looked at,just wanted to see what other possible causes were, thanks for the advice

lucky for you cause that motor is a non contact motor and leave updates
