Just wondering...

So I was working on the car with my neighbor, I was inside the cab and he was under the hood. We had the spark plug wires out, and he asked me what the order was. I thought he was talking about on the engine, so I told him 1, 2, 3, 4. So I fired it up and it ran BAD..... worse than before. After looking at it for a bit, I realized that he was asking me about the distributor! So I turned the car off and put the wires on the distributor in the right order, but now I'm worried that the couple of minutes that I let it run may have hurt some stuff in the engine. Anything I should keep an eye out for? I know there was some backfiring, would this foul up any of the sensors in particular?

Re: Just wondering...

It shouldn't. Maybe if you ran it like that for awhile. Reset the ECM/PCM and watch for any irregularities.

The only noticeable thing is that before this happened, I had the idle settled down and in a normal range, but now after this it's bouncing again (700-1500 rpm) when I'm sitting, and when I'm moving (coasting, but out of gear) the idle sits steady at 1500.
