94 ex coupe tranny problems
When in bought this car i was told the throw out bearing was bad in the tranny and some other bearing ( not sure what said "some other bearing" is ). There is almost a grinding noise sometimes in low and high RPMS. It will go away as quick as it came when accelerating then come back as quick as it went lol. Some times it doesn't make it at all. And yes it does make a weird noise when you push in the clutch. I went to some mechanic shop and they told me " My transmission will explode sooner or later " then they tried to sell me a used tranny for 800 dollars plus 300 for labor. So i cant really trust that seeing as how it sounds like a load of **** obviously. So my question is. Could my tranny be going out? Or do i just need a new clutch, throw out bearing and possibly this mystery bearing? The sound is alot more noticeable in 1st - 3rd. But makes it at certain RPMs in 4th and 5th. usually around 3 grand. Any insight or help is much appreciated. thanks
EDIT. Forgot to say that when in neutral you can here the noise as well. But when you push the clutch in.. all is well, It sounds perfect no noise

Re: 94 ex coupe tranny problems
Pilot bearing, ok. So i should probably track down a reliable mechanic and get a new clutch , throw out bearing and pilot bearing? Probably will just to be on the safe side, I just get paranoid sometimes that it is really the transmission. But I think it is highly unlikely.
Re: 94 ex coupe tranny problems
I had the same exact problem on my '97 Civic, and I'm pretty sure it was the input shaft bearing. I don't know if there's a great difference in the transmissions on 5th gens and 6th gens, but that would be my guess.
