1994 civic ex start/idle problems

1994 civic ex start/idle problems i just bought a 94 civic ex coupe and it started and ran fine. yesterday i shut the car off for about 20 minutes and went inside. came back outside to move the car and it wouldnt start. got it started today but has real rough idle. has power surge then drop continuous. i got a lot of opinoins and most lead to fuel pump/main relay but i wanted to get some other peoples input before i start spending money

sounds like a main relay or fuel pump. both are EXTREMELY easy to install and relatively inexpensive used, new they can get a little pricey though.
