1991 civic HB 1.5L SOHC

Having problems with rough idle and intermitant stall/no start conditions.

I posted recently and was convivnced it was the main fuel relayand happening when the interior heat warmed the relay. That has been replaced and the problem persists. Once the vehicle has sat for a few hours it will start again. I had a mechanic check the spark the last time it wouldn't start, ( it does crank) and he said it was very weak spark. I am now thinking maybe it could be the ignition coil or igniter in the distributor. Is it likely they could be responsible for the intermitant nature of the problem and if so, which component of the two would be the first to change. On a youtube video the coil looked relatively easy to replace.

Thanks for any advice!

I would go with the igniter, #11: http://www.hondapartscheap.com/south...t=0&quantity=0

Hey I had the same problem but mine was actually the main relay. My friend and I replaced the distributor and it still continued to malfunction so I went to Honda and they hooked it up on the computer and fixed the main relay..all is well now.

You can't "fix" a relay, let alone fix it with the computer.

Actually, you can repair the main relay...

but as per the origional post, i have already replaced it with a new one. same problem..
Something to consider if you change it yourself is to unplug the old one and relocate the new relay to a new position that's easier to get at..

OK, I retract my earlier statement. I should have said jurassic location. Mines right behind the glove box. It actually took more time to empty the glove box than it did to locate and remove the relay. lol. The blue one is the main and the red one is the secondary:

I have a similar issue. 91 dx, car is runninig excellent, and then the engine just dies, always under power driving down the road. After it sits, variable amounts of time, cold or warm, it starts, it runs fine... honda service replaced the the relay...its been running or a month witout an issue, now its dead twice today. DO these relays on the dx models go bad? IS the relay behind the glove box the same relay they replaced? I need to go see. Are we having the same issue?
