What do you guys think of this Civic?

http://pei.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles...AdIdZ189283018

I'm looking for my first car, have my eyes set on a Civic.
This car seems pretty perfect so far, it's an automatic which is perfect because I'm a newbie to manuals.
Low KMs, not really any problems I've seen so far except minor surface rust.

Just wondering about the price.. $2,500 feels expensive but is it worth it for a car that old and everything?
I can't find much else better here in PEI, Canada.
How much should I try and talk him down for?

Thanks guys, sorry if this is the wrong place I really needed some opinions because I'm new to cars and I thought where better than a forum dedicated to Civics?

The ad says its a 94 cx hatchback, however this model did not have an automatic tranny. I think the guy meant DX and it had the option for the automatic. If you convert the kilos to miles it works to be around 78000 miles. KBB says about $ 2050.00. Have the car looked at by someone who knows cars. Also the ad says new exhaust and timing belt. Ask for receipts. My recent project of looking for a used civic found lots of people with amnesia. Everyone had a timing belt/water pump done but know one had the old parts or receipts for anything. This year especiially had the rust on the rear quarter panels around the lip and in the shock towers. Get it on a lift if you cant see it good from underneath. Also ask about if the tranny fluid was changed. just figure out how much money you will need to make the car pass inspection then bid lower from his price or KBB. The car is old but these run forever if some maitance was done. good luck

Yeah I noticed he has 2 older ads, and an ad on another site but all say Cx.
Possible rebuild or something?

I was looking at this too..

It's a manual, but I want a Civic so bad and I think I'd learn to drive stick if I had to.
I was talking to this guy a lot, said he just started it up for the first time since last fall and the idle is revving up and then down again he thinks it's just from being stored so long and he's going to get back to me once he tests it out.
Said there's no rust at all, just some on the front of the engine bonnet.

What do you guys think?

If its a cx then the KBB came in alot cheaper around $1600.00 figure Id let ya know. One question i would ask is why has the car been sitting? he is probably paying insurance and taxes on a car that he is not using? And find out if its registered and what the current insp sticker reflects.

That 2000 definitely looks like the better deal. Especially with no rust on it. Learn how to drive stick! It's not that hard and it will definitely be worth it. It's so much more fun. The car is cheaper and it's 6 years younger. A good starter car I think. Make sure to get it checked out by a mechanic and let the good times roll.

Re: What do you guys think of this Civic?

if the idle problem gets solved, go with the 2000 definitely. a manual transmission helps you get the most out of these engines. plus, it really is a lot more fun.
