I love my 1995 Civic DX, but it needs AC!
Hi folks,
Just found this forum, it looks great! I'm learning lots just reading through threads...
Here's my dilemma. I bought my civic about 2 years ago (2007). It was stock everything at the time (and still pretty much is) but only had 41000 miles on her! As you know, the DX model is pretty vanilla--no frills, no AC.
And that's the only thing I'd like to change. The local honda dealer says that honda no longer manufactures the AC kit I'd need, but that if I can get my hands on one they'll happily install it and give me a warranty.
I've found two possible options:

This guy is an aftermarket part (I think?) so no warranty from the dealer's shop. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but is this kit decent? I get the feeling that the "in-dash" design is not how the OEM Honda kit works.

On Majestic Honda there are a bunch of parts listed, but I'm not sure which I would need in order to not be missing some critical component. I'm guessing that some of these parts are actual original Honda stuff, so that's a plus in terms of warranty.
Anyhow, that's all I've found so far. Another thing I have considered is that I'd really love to do this installation myself, but I have little under-the-hood experience and depend on the car for regular transportation to and from work. How would you rate the difficulty level of installing this system?
Thanks so much!

Re: I love my 1995 Civic DX, but it needs AC!
I compare installing AC to rebuilding the transmission, it's harder. I can do it, but only because I'm good at things like that. I can do it with my eyes closed. None of my friends can, but I can do AC. I can do it.
