Wanted: Black Housing Headlights for 99-00 Civic Si
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has 99-00 black housing headlights for sale. If so, please let me know if you guys have it.. Also looking for the OEM tail lights with the Stanley stamp. Thankss (:
Re: Wanted: Black Housing Headlights for 99-00 Civic Si
I rather buy it because I don't have access to the materials and no time to do it myself. Plus, I'm kinda scared of taking things apart.. Thanks though.
Re: Wanted: Black Housing Headlights for 99-00 Civic Si
yea no worries. I do believe that i did see a set on ebay that instead of having chrome on the housing it was black, it did look much like my blackhoused headlights so i spose you could try there. However i am not sure of the quality of them though.
cheers,
Jay

Yeah, I tried on Ebay too.. I kinda don't really trust the quality, scared they might fog up when you wash the car or on cold days..
Re: Wanted: Black Housing Headlights for 99-00 Civic Si
i don't blame you for being scared of buying them from ebay. Do you know any other local honda guys that could give you a hand at helping you blackhouse your own?
Re: Wanted: Black Housing Headlights for 99-00 Civic Si
I have some friends in the Honda scene, but I'm pretty sure their as skeptical as me.. Don't wanna mess anything up ya know?
Re: Wanted: Black Housing Headlights for 99-00 Civic Si
yea i dont really blame ya some people think im kidding when i tell them that you have to put your headlights in your kitchens oven in order to blackhouse them haha.
Re: Wanted: Black Housing Headlights for 99-00 Civic Si
as long as you pay close attention to them in the oven and dont have the heat up too high then you dont have to worry about melting and warping of the headlights.

I did mine a smoke grey a few weeks ago
1) remove headlights from car
2) use oven at low temp to soften sealant enough to pull the two halfs apart(i used the wifes hair dryer)
3) remove two screws that secure the housing to the plastic lense.
4) prep the chrome plated surface using a medium to fine grit sandpaper or scotch brite pad. Be sure to remove all gloss from the surface at least. I went all the way to the plastic
5) prime the surface after cleaning good with acetone(2coats of primer)
6) spray your black onto the housing using multiple thin coats untill you get the desired look
7) allow the housing to dry overnight
8) screw the housing back onto the lense
9) use choice of heating method to reinstall lense onto back of headlight
10) reinstall headlight onto car
This if from 99 headlights. There is no masking required since the reflector is seperate from the housing. Feel free to ask questions or corrext. Lol
