Help, I know nothing about civics...
Hey, I just inherited a 2000 Honda Civic dx (whatever dx means) and was looking for some advice to make it go faster. I'm on a budget of $5000 so I was wondering if anybody knew of any good turbo/supercharger kits or anything like that. i just don't want that super ricer sound with that ridiculous muffler. Thanks!

Go to procivic.com they sell a direct bolt on turbocharger kit for your car. I think its 2499. I have way more in my turbo d16 than that kit but then again I have a built motor which once you go turbo your gonna want to crank up the boost so give it time.
Turbo is way quieter than any muffler. You can run a turbo without a muffler and its quieter than a car with a muffler without a cat. The only noise they really put out is the turbo spinning 100k revs per min.
But If you dont like the exhaust then halt your entire project right now since upgrades to the car add heat to the motor and hence need better flow to get rid of that extra heat. Turbo or cam or anything you want to do to your car is going to need a better exhaust. Even if you put an intake on your car it gets louder. The intake alone on a civic sounds like it has a muffler due to the filter sucking so hard. So tread lightly as you look into this as upgrading your car is going to require some mods.
Turbo is the way to go tho. I have gotten 40mpg with my turbo d16 but then i can stomp it and when the turbo spools it will pull on a 600cc rocket until about 130. But im pushing 15 psi on low comp pistons, h beam rods, 440cc injectors, ex intake manifold, 48 trim garrett turbo, with a 38mm (I think) wastegate, full 3" exhaust, LSD s20 transmission, and I can just keep going. I have over 5k in my build and its very dependable.
Just remember one thing tho. A tune is everything with a turbo. A tune is where the power is with or without the turbo either way.
I have a chip for a p28 computer that is a mugen race chip if you want to go that route. It will increase your rev limit to 8k, it is equiped with a oxygen sensor delete, and the only thing you will need for your car is the ecu adapter and a p28 ecu.
