Wanting to do a swap on my 96 ex coupe

I have the basic d16 motor and it's leaking oil from a main and the motor has over 200k so I've decided I want to do a swap and do some upgrading to it. I know there are tons of different things I can do to it but I want it to be fast yet still need it to be my daily. If anyone has suggestions it would greatly be appreciated.

k20 is the swap everyone aspires for. However to swap it into a 96 is rather expensive. Your cheap yet still totally badass option is a B18. It produces tons of power and responds well to bolt ons to give it more power. Your third option is a B16 which is a cheaper way to go and still get lots of power. All three are totally acceptable for daily drivers and should actually be a bit smoother than your D16.

If your swapping.. your going to spend at least a few thousand no matter which you choose. The K being the most expensive probably at 5K+.

I've been leaning more towards the B16 lately due to funding. I know I'm going to sound stupid asking this but if I swap the motor will I still have to get a new transmission? And if so what if I got a d16z6 or y8? Would I still have to swap out the tranny?

Re: Wanting to do a swap on my 96 ex coupe

If your looking for power I don't suggest getting anything "D" series. You will be very limited to what you can achieve without going turbo.

The D16 transmission will not bolt up to the b16 engine. It's different.

Your engine is the D16Y8. The Y8 transmission will bolt up to the Z6 engine but the Z6 transmission is slightly better than the Y8.
