96 DX Needs more power
96 DX Needs more power
I just got a hand-me-down 96 DX with a MT. It does good most of the time, but when hauling my fat *** up a hill I have to hit the slow lane where I often get passed by small children on tricycles.
I was looking at doing the standard stuff like exhaust, intake manifold, air intake, etc. But when looking under the hood, the intake manifold on it is wierd in that the throttle body sits top-center of the manifold instead of on the left side, where I am used to seeing it.
So, I am wondering if I also have a different head, or is it just the manifold that is different in which case I should be able to just get a after market unit (skunk or something else).
Thanks for reading my post.

Re: 96 DX Needs more power
That's the normal configuration for the throttle body.
A 96 DX in North America has a D16y7 head, which can be swapped for a D16y8 head quite easily and for little cost. If you're in Prague, as in the Czech Republic, that would complicate things as Europe has different engines....

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
