can you supercharge a 97 civic hx?

i wanna do this but i hear from lots of people that you cant do it because of the vtec-e and the head it uses to operate i also am prepared to swap out the head wiring harness and the ecu if i ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO and i also wanna know can i just swap out the ecu and the cam?, then will the solenoid know the difference and operate like an ex or do i just have to swap the head also but im trying to just get some more kick out of my motor but i also hear that its more beneficial to have it just be converted to an ex anyways so let me know what i should do because im just cautious. im just trying to save myself the extra work that isnt needed.

sure its possible so long as you tune it right. someone here with an 01 hx cvt had a turbo on it. there will be very little difference in power converting from hx to ex engine and ecu, except maybe you will lose 10 mpg and gain 5hp.

and what do you think about my other questions should i convert? is it for the better? because i am planning on just not getting a swap and going d16 but there are certain aftermarket parts that wont work with the hx head like aftermarket sohc cams.... which sucks

Re: can you supercharge a 97 civic hx?

jackson prolly said that because it was not tested on an hx and will need to be custom tuned and tweaked to work right. hx is not as popular for parts if you want to build the engine, so maybe the ex engine would be better for you.
