Keep my D16 and Turbo, or go B16 and turbo?
Keep my D16 and Turbo, or go B16 and turbo?
My goal is just a 13.99 in the qtr. mile. Not too high of a goal. Also, its a 99 HX 5spd. So keeping that in mind could I just keep my current motor in and turbo it and make that goal? Or would it be better for me to swap a B16 and go all motor and make my goal? Or would I have to turbo the B16 anyways to reach my goal?
So options to reach 13.99:
1. Keep D16 and turbo
2. Swap in B16 and go all motor
3. Swap in B16 and go Turbo
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Justin

Hi the D16 can be a great motor to boost, of course the B series make smore power, but it would also cost you more to swap it and then turbo it then it would to keep what you got a boost it, by the way my current project is a D16Z6 I will keep yah posted if you want when i get it on the dyno next week, its a custom cobbled together turbo set up but the goal is around 300 whp on 93 octane with a daily driver street tune.

go with b 16a .I made 311whp on a b16a on 93 octane gas .The car is turbo charged an also daily driven.B16a make whp easily due to it reving ability.

Sell your car, buy a camaro & save a few grand in the process.
Honestly though, I'd say neither. Go with a K20 (rsx-S engine and tranny) with simple camshaft, intake, exhaust and chip mods. Then put your car on a serious diet. Aim to subtract 300-400lbs from the curb weight. This should give you a 1/4 mi. time in the mid 13s.
