Question Need info on lowering?

I have a 2000 civic ex sedan with 161k miles. I'm interested in lowering my car because I love the way itmlooks, but I don't know how much it is going to cost to do it the right way, or what I need... Oh and how low should I go? I'm not sure what would look good and what's too much...

Is this what I would need?

The way you worded your thread it sounds a lot like you haven't done much research at all...let me get you up to speed and hopefully bring some insight.

If you buy cheap stuff (like junk2) your car will ride like garbage and you will hate every mile driving it. Either drop the $$ or don't do it at all. If you just get lowering springs you will blow your stock shocks. The more aggressive the spring the more aggressive your shocks will have to be. If your shocks don't have enough valve rebound for the stiffer spring they (the shocks) will fail.

It also depends on what you want to do. Do you just want to lower the car or do you regularly autocross/track? I personally hate progressive springs but they're supposed to offer a more comfortable ride. However, because of the various levels of compression within the spring they make the car unpredictable under hard-cornering (like in a track situation) which is why in either case I will take a linear spring over a progressive any day.

Also with 161k on the car there's probably a lot of older parts on the car. If you get more aggressive suspension its going to put a lot more stress on certain parts of the car. I've heard of people having their motor mounts snap from their more aggressive suspension. That's really worst case scenario but something to consider.

If you're looking for a clean setup I wouldn't go any farther than 1.3''F/1.7''R. As far as what you want to spend just remember that you get what you pay for. For brands I would stick to Koni or Bilstein for shocks and H&R/Eibach for springs. Tire rack has a great selection of both brands to give you an idea of what setups you could want.

Oh, and STAY AWAY FROM COILOVERS.
