Door lock wont work

I have a 2005 Civic LX 4 door. The driver's side rear door won't lock/unlock when using the FOB or the door controls. Could it be a door actuator? Something else? Please advise and if possible instructions on repair. Thanks!

Re: Door lock wont work

Could be.
Had it been acting funny before it quit?

Does the lock actuator try to move the button at all? (weak actuator is common)
Any sounds?
If there is ANY response in that door, the wiring might be assumed okay and the actuator is probably weak, replace it.

OTOH If zero response visibly and/or audibly, then take that door panel off and check that power/ground are both present in the lock motor connector when the locks are cycled.

A super simple dirt cheap test light can be made from a plain #194 bulb--just straighten out the wire contacts and insert them into the connector terminals.

If it lights up bright when you work the lock switch both directions, you just confirmed both power and ground at the lock motor, so motor must be bad.

The lock stopped working all of a sudden. No warning. No sounds.

Re: Door lock wont work

You will need to determine if voltage is reaching actuator or not.

No voltage....possible broken wire. Has voltage, likely defective actuator. (uses a DC motor)

Re: Door lock wont work

Here is the latest...I got a new actuator and hooked it up and it didn't work. When the new actuator is hooked up, the rest of the locks do not work. FOB or the driver's door control. When I unhook the new actuator, the rest of the locks work.

I hooked up a test light to the connector of the bad door and there was no light. I also did the light bulb test, as mentioned and it also did not light up.

What is my next step to figure out the power situation? Thank you.

Check the door harness for broken wires
