99 civic keyless lock intermittent

I bought my 1999 Civic EX a few months back, and when I use the remote to lock/unlock the doors, the results are intermittent. First, the master switch on the driver's door works great; this is only a problem with the remote. And the battery is good in the remote.
When I use the remote to lock the car, it works on all doors except the rear driver's side. When I use it to UNlock the car, it usually doesn't work at all, though sometimes it does. All locks make sounds and movement, even when they don't work, like they're trying to work.
Again, the master control inside the car works great. It's just the remote that's got the issues.
Thanks in advance!

Re: 99 civic keyless lock intermittent

Thanks for the reply. The windows are fine. Well...it seems my passenger rear is bad, but that seems to be that motor.

I do suspect the control module. It turns out the in-door control is not 100% consistent after all.

By the way, is there a connection between the radio and this? It's an after market radio and it's having some control issues too. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but I've read that there may be a connection between the radio and security on some Civics (?).

Thanks!

i think that for the 99 model they stopped using the radio for the security system and just used something else lol im not sure what but i believe its directly conected to the actuator. in the older models you had to have your stock radio still installed under the dash so you could use the alarm system and power locks. if you had the stereo installed while you owned the car then you would know if they kept it there. it sounds like your actuator is fine though since your power windows work so i would say your probably got wet and corroded so in time theyll eventually stop working.

Re: 99 civic keyless lock intermittent

There are actually several different types of keyless door lock designs available. Their designs vary depending on the height of the level of security you need. For example, if you are planning to install one in an area where many people need access to it then make one with a keyboard is ideal. A four-digit code is sufficient to open the door that can be shared with others who need access to the room.
