97 civic alternator?
97 civic alternator?
So i have a 97 civic canadian model with a 1200 watt amp and a capacitor, lights dim and subs skip beats on some songs ect. and im sure i just have to get a new alternator.
My question is do i need a 160 amp alternator or just 130 (those two seem to be the most common ones on ebay) and are they hard to install? And, should i get it off ebay or is there a better place, or would anyone know a store in Edmonton, Canada where i could buy something like that?

Re: 97 civic alternator?
For the price difference and value I'd go with at least a 160. There are lots of places to buy HO alternators but prices on ebay are a bit better. There is a great DIY on here for installing a HO alternator, which lists a place where you can buy them as well. When you are upgrading an alternator, do not forgot to also upgrade your wires running to it. There is someone on here (electric130) that sells 4 gauge ground cables for your car which will be able to take the high amps of your new alternator without melting. Don't forget to also upgrade the wire that runs from your alternator to your batter, which WILL melt.
Hope this helps.
