2000 honda civic ex power door locks not working
2000 honda civic ex power door locks not working
Can anyone help.
I have the Executive alarm system that came with my 2000 honda civic ex. When I disarm the alarm the drivers door will open, but if I push open again the passengers door lock will not open like it should. When I get in and start the car the doors should automatically lock, but they dont anymore, and the locking switch on the drivers side door does nothing, there is no sound, nothing. I can arm the alarm, but the doors will not lock via the alarm, I have to manually lock the doors.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My alarm plays tricks on me like that a lot but seems mainly to be a loose connection. Was it installed professionally and have you been messing around under the dash or replaced the radio recently?

It was installed professonially by a honda tech in 2000 when I bought it. You mentioned a loose wire, where should I look? I'm don't know much about cars, but i'm a quick learner.

yeh had the same thing happen to me.. driver side lock wouldnt go down, it just kept opening. i ended up just slamming doors and pressing the lock button countless times until it just worked...
Re: 2000 honda civic ex power door locks not working
Try seeing if there is a loose or bad connection. Follow the wires from the alarm module and see if you can see any wires not connected, wires split, frayed wires or any obvious signs of a bad wire. Hopefully the tech who installed it, soldered the wires...if not that probably means it's the wires. Also check if you deleted the 2-step door lock feature or anything via your remote...I'm not sure what kind of features you can program with the alarm you have but see if you accidently took something off. Check the wires though, and post back.

I looked under both front seats for the brain, behind the center console (Where I could see) and as far as I could see under the dash and I couldn't find the brain. Any idea's where it can be?

Re: 2000 honda civic ex power door locks not working
I have a different brand but the installer stuck it on the driver's side part of the dash. It was between a metal frame underneath the lower dashboard and the plastic you see when you open the door and look at the side of the dash. It's a vertical piece of plastic. Most likely you are not going to be able to find a brain as it is meant to be kept out of harms way for any "accidents" to be avoided.
