Got my distributor stolen.. What should I do??

Please any advice would be greatfull....
I just bought a 96 civic 2 weeks before It was broken into and the distributor was stolen. I know It could have been worse but I no longer feel safe in this neiborhood. I want to move but dont have the means yet. I thought about an alarm but ppl are telling me that if they want it they can get it alarm or not. I now park it next to my window on the side of the house rather then next to the road. I had plans for this car and If there was a great alarm out there I might feel safe about puting money into it. Any suggestions?

Thieves don't care about stereos anymore, they're more into smash and grab. So all you have to do is keep the inside of your car clean, don't leave anything out lying around that looks like it could be sold. That's the biggest thing, the next is to invest in a pager alarm which will page you if the alarm goes off. This saved my *** once.
