Wheel offset question

Hey, I have a 1998 Honda Civic EX coupe and am looking into buying some new wheels. I am interested in these wheels here, https://www.fitmentindustries.com/bu...spension=Stock . Everything I have looked at says that these wheels should fit nicely, however, the offset is making me nervous. I am new to this and I am reading that the offset should be 38mm to 45mm. These ones are 15mm. What exactly does a 15+mm offset mean for my car? Will these fit without rubbing on stock suspension?

Re: Wheel offset question

It shouldn’t rub (if you stay on stock ride height, but it’ll probably stick out a comedic amount.

Ah, so the lower the offset the more the wheel sticks out? Another set of wheels looks similar but is 25mm offset, might go with that

Re: Wheel offset question

here's a visual representation of how much they'll stick out (this is assuming the edge of the tire is even with the inner edge of the fender lip and 1" wheel clearance). Your best bet is to stick with that ET38 to ET45 offset. I chose 215/50-15 tires to have minimal impact on speedometer error.

ET38's will put the outer edge of the tire just about even with the outer edge of the fender lip

ET45s will give you a bit of a safety margin during strut compression so your tire wont rub the fender, since a bit of negative camber (top of the tires going inward) is introduced during suspension compression

here's my wheel/tire calculator of choice
