Rear hub assembly installation ?s
I am replacing my rear hub/bearing assembly on my 99 Civic EX with rear disk brakes..
My question is, do the rear hub needs to be pressed in or is there like a bolt/nut holding it in place to the trailing arm? if so, does the whole trailing arm need to come off the car?
here's an image of the hub/bearing assembly

Re: Rear hub assembly installation ?s
I just did this two weeks ago! It was easy, I'm new to working on cars and I completed one hub replacement in 2 hours.
The bearings and hub are one unit in the rear, no need to do any pressing in or out. (FYI the front is different, bearings need to be pressed in)
It is attached to the axel by a 32mm spindle nut. No need to remove trailing arm. You are supposed to "stake" the nut though, meaning hammer its outer rim, which is made of malleable metal into a grove so it can't back out on you. The video I link at the end of this message says its important, but my mechanic uncles didn't think so, and the hub that I pulled off was completely unstaked.
Here's the video I mentioned. It is very good. The guy is working on a 2000 Accord and its hub has 5 studs instead of four but other than that everything is the same for a civic, including torque values. 134 ft lbs for the 32 mm nut, etc.
