Bad bearing noise. Help

Hi! This is my first post
Car is a 1997 ek civic hatch d15 5speed manual. the car makes a loud very obvious bearing noise/whine/grind, it comes on around 20-30kmph, its louder than the car and after about 40kmph it doesnt really change tone. The sound stays on regardless of wheter or not i have the clutch engaged or not.
I have had it road tested by a highly rated transmission shop in my area, and they diagnosed it to be bad axle/diff bearings and I also thought this. So i bought a replacement s20 gearbox and swapped it out thinking this would fix my problem. Although stupidly I put the theoughout bearing which seemed a little bit bad into the "new" second hand box that I used to replace the old one. Ironically the bearing noise/whine/grinding sound is still the same....
Basically im wondering if any honda gurrus have had this problem or know if its the throughout bearing or another bearing? I doubt its the input shaft bearing or the diff bearings unless it was bad on both the box's. Wanting advice before i go and swap the throughout bearing only for the whine to remain after that also.. any advice appreciated.

Re: Bad bearing noise. Help

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me which is probably what they meant by axle bearing. Has nothing to do with the transmission.

Re: Bad bearing noise. Help

Does the noise vary only with engine RPM?

Does the noise vary only with road speed?

Does the noise vary depending on which gear the trans is in?

Does the noise change if you swerve the car side to side?

Let's hear the recording of it?

sound stays the same regardless of gear, rpm, or speed but doesnt come on untill 20-30kmph. Also no change is sound when swerving or full lock both ways, also car still handles well. I will try to get a recording of it.

nah be only said diff bearings. I added in axle part. They were quoted me 950nzd to drop the box and swap the bearing at minimum without doing anything else.

sound stays the same regardless of gear, rpm,
The pitch has to vary with SOMETHING.

Pitch of a bad bearing will change as its rotational speed changes....and figuring out exactly how it changes (or what makes it change) is how we figure where it should be in the drivetrain.
