Question about crankshaft

I had a mechanic scam me and this is the result friend of mine says he can replace the crankshaft for 150 not including the new cs but does it need replaced? No experience with this part of the car but the pulley bolt won't tighten down because the cs is chipped where that notch is so is it ruined or is there a fix?

Re: Question about crankshaft

if that were my car i would dress the burr (ie:remove any high spots with a dremel or file) and reinstall the crank pulley and bolt. changing a crankshaft sucks. it's a huge repair that requires removing the trans and then pretty much taking everything apart plus replacing fluids and gaskets. i would try to avoid it. i wouldn't trust any of my friends to change a crankshaft

from what i see, you should be able to get the pulley back on with 15 minutes of finagling. mess with it until you do. if it spins straight and true, call it fixed. IMO.

i fix a lot of crap. not a mechanic though, so just my 2¢
