2000 Civic LX drops to 23 MPG

It was getting 30-34 in mixed city/hwy here in Denver area. Over about a year it dropped to 23 MPG now.

Plugs were changed a year ago, but it only gets driven 3k Miles a year, so...

Not running rough or anything.

Ideas?

Re: 2000 Civic LX drops to 23 MPG

Cold weather, extended idle time, winter blend fuels, low tire pressures......

Driving habits....

Wait until June, fill it up and take a road trip of a couple hundred miles at 55 MPH. Calculate fuel economy at the end of the highway ride before you hit stop and go traffic of a city.

EDIT: Is this the car that got the head gasket? Is that the pinpoint in time when the economy dropped? (check cam timing)

No, it's been going down for months, and no changes on the car.
