D16Y7 Interference or not?

I am going nuts trying to find out if the D16Y7 engine in my 2000 Civic is an interference engine or not. Wherever I look the answers are split about 50/50. HELP!

I thought all 5th and 6th gen ('92-'00) engines are interference engines.

Re: D16Y7 Interference or not?

Yes they are interference engines.....but that doesn't automatically mean they will always bend valves because there are other factors that come into play if it actually happens.....

But, if you break a timing belt and somehow manage to not end up with bent valves, go buy some lottery tickets.

if you ever have doubts if your engine is interference or not...treat it like it is...always go with the safe side when dealing with the valve train
