96 Civic loping on hills

My daughter has a 96 Civic EX Coupe with AT and D16Y8 engine that's been running weird. When pulling up the hills in Seattle it starts to lope and the tach jumps up & down. She says it does it on the freeway as well but not as bad. There is no CEL. I changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires yesterday. Within the last 50k I've changed timing belt, head gasket, distributor, starter etc. etc. and it's been running fine until recently. Any ideas about why it does this? MAF Sensor? 02 Sensor? Injectors? Where do I start without a CEL? It has over 300k miles but it's been running healthy, not burning oil or anything like that. Could it be the transmission? The last time I had a Honda AT go out it was banging in & out of gear. I'm loaning her my Subaru and debating on whether I'll try to drive her Civic back here 160 miles to Vancouver WA

That's a lot of miles..

Tach erratic, does it rise higher than actual engine RPM? If so, check the repair in this link:

I guess I should have been more clear.. it's not the tach.

No, no video, going uphill it acts like it's running out of gas.. or out of spark, so it kind of lurches or lopes. An aircraft mechanic told my daughter maybe it's the MAF sensor but I don't know how to check it or even if that's a possibility.
