96 Civic LX cranks but won't start
96 Civic LX cranks but won't start
All - appreciate some help here.. I drove my Civic to work with no issues.. went to leave after work and it will crank but won't start - no spark, At first it did start but stalled and did this a couple times and then would not start at all. The distributor had been replaced a year ago and with no spark condition I swapped it again as it was under warranty.. didn't help.. I've checked crank fluctuation/position sensor and it checks okay. I have power to the coil but not seeing it collapse to produce spark. What wire(s) going to distributor harness is from the ECM? I checked voltage on green/yellow wire and nothing.. I'm suspecting the ECM as everything else seems to be okay.. I did hook up a scanner and can talk to the ECM but no codes.. Anyone have a wiring diagram that I could look at? Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I also posted this in the General Forum but haven't had any response so posted here as well.
Re: 96 Civic LX cranks but won't start
Just as a follow up.. The ECM was the issue. I removed the covers and components looked okay. I went to a local salvage yard and pulled one from a '97 Civic. On first crank it tried to start but stalled. It took quite a bit of cranking before it actually started but this seemed more like a fuel issue than anything else. If anyone can explain why it wouldn't just start I'd appreciate it...
