Bought a 98 Civic - Question re Headliner and Locks

Hi All -

Just bought a used '98 Civic EX, going to use it for my commute. The only things wrong (as far as I can tell) are the headliner sagging a little in front, and a missing door luck cylinder. Regarding the headliner, has anyone ever replaced theirs? Either by DIY or taking it to an upholstery shop? How much did either option cost, and was the DIY easy or difficult?

Regarding the lock, the driver's side is missing, and in order to unlock the door, you have to enter through the passenger side and unlock it from the inside. I'm hoping that someone had simply attempted to break in and the cylinder was pushed into the door and had fallen to the bottom. If the cylinder's completely missing however, would my easiest step be to find another cylinder that's compatible with the model and just deal with having two sets of keys? not sure how to approach this one. Thanks all!

A good lock shop can re-key a door lock cylinder to match existing keys. That would be the best option assuming the cylinder isn't inside the door.

Re: Bought a 98 Civic - Question re Headliner and Locks

The headliner in my '02 was sagging in the rear.
At the time, I made plenty of money, so I took it to my dealer. He said that they don't do that sort of thing in-house. That they have someone come in (detailer?) a couple of days a week and take care of things like that.
I don't know what they did, but it has been at least 5 years, and it looks like new.

Good to know. So I'd just need to buy one cylinder as opposed to buying a new set and having to use two keys for the car, if this works! Thanks for the advice.

Word of advice: Leave the headliner in place until you are 100% ready to get it fixed.

Took mine out.......once. Prizm

Wait - was that a Roman Mononi reference? LOL. Can you expand a bit on your experience?

And the car is much louder going down the road because you can hear the sheetmetal above your head.

I haven't thought of Joe Piscopo in a while.
I can't wait to see this movie.

I had this 12" single for a long time:
