2000 civic died while driving, crank no start
2000 civic EX (canadian Si) 5spd
car died while driving, dash lights all lit up. For the past week I felt a little sputter now and then, but nothing like a misfire.
Now it cranks , but no start.
battery good, fuel good, no spark
recently replaced cap rotor wires(NGK) plugs ignition coil (was getting random misfire code, ran good for months after that repair)
opened the distributor- white char residue inside the cap. ignition coil spring corroded. I'm going to replace the igniter next (and re-replace ignition coil)
QUESTION: Am I missing something? I'm afraid there's some underlying issue and my new parts are just going to die soon.
Praise be to the Honda Sages

Re: 2000 civic died while driving, crank no start
Got any fault codes?
Got a distibutor from a running car you can swap as a test?
A dwellmeter or tach can be used to check for signal that triggers the ignition coil.
If signal is present but no spark, bad coil.
If no signal, something else is wrong.

Got a buddy with a working dizzy? I'd say its the easiest way for beginners. Like ezone said, it's time for us to get meters to test properly.
