Battery discharge problem
Battery discharge problem
Hey guys, I'm new here and I'm not really sure how this works so please bear with me.
So, for the past 3 years, I have had an issue with my battery discharging extremely quick. If I don't drive it for a day, the voltage drops below 12V and I cannot start it without jumper cables. I went and got a new battery but that didn't solve the issue.
Does anyone have the same issue and knows what is causing it? A faulty fuse or alternator? I desperately need help as I am in university and need to use the car ASAP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Battery discharge problem
These types of problems are a pain to troubleshoot. Do you have a multimeter? Something is causing the battery to drain. Does it have an aftermarket alarm or radio? These can cause issues.
Re: Battery discharge problem
Are there any warning lights on?
I would use a DC current clamp and measure how much current is being drawn from the battery with the car off. Once I verified it was drawing an excess amount I would start disconnecting circuits until it went away. It sounds like you have no tools and little time with being at school so it might be best to just take it to a reputable shop.

Re: Battery discharge problem
Currently, there aren't any warning lights. Okay, I will definitely tell my mechanic all of this. We stopped sending the car to garages, since the car used to come back with more issues than when we sent it in. I really appreciate the help, guys. Thank you
