Distributor between y8 and y7??
Distributor between y8 and y7??
Okay so i've got a 2000 civic, motor went bad. its an EJ8, which means it should have a d16y8, right? Except its a D16y7. Blah blah blah, i bought a y8.
Got the motor in, everythings going decently smooth, except the distributor. On the harness for the car it has a different plug than the one on the new motor. I've got a new dist for the y7, can i just throw that on the y8? Or do i need to start all over with a d16y7?

Re: Distributor between y8 and y7??
the y7 in the earlier years had a TEC and a Hitachi distributor in them
and the 99 and 00 both run the TEC for the y7 and y8
98 and pre they had the two choices for both y7 and y8
so if its a pre 98 y7 it might be running the Hitachi distributor on the broken engine in the car
which if you bought a 99 or 2000 y8 or you bought a y8 of 96-98 with a TEC distributor you would be looking at a different plug
