Rep Power: 0 98 EX hard shift into park
Having difficulty shifting gear shift out of and into park. Brake release solenoid fine. Releases cam but physically difficult to go to reverse. Once in heat difficult to put back into park. Anyone have a solution?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 98 EX hard shift into park
No obstruction in the shifter area? No soda spills making it gummy?
Has the shift cable under the car been hit or kinked or damaged?
I'd disconnect the linkage at the trans and inspect.
Does the trans lever move freely?
Nothing corroded in the linkage pivots? (some attachment styles do have corrosion problems)
Then see if the shifter still feels wrong with the trans linkage disconnected. (guessing it probably will still feel wrong)
Then disconnect the cable from the shifter
and check shifter movement,
then check cable movement with both ends disconnected.

Nothing spilled. I disconnected the shift lever from the cable. The lever moves freely. Next I will disconnect trams end and see if cable binds and linkage moves freely. Odd that it only affect Park.
