Help! Reading Transmission dipstick. Trans level?? PICS

I am having difficulty reading the transmission dipstick level.

Does it indicate the level by the thin film or the dense area of trans fluid?

Extra info: I have a transmission leak, just droplets on the bottom of trans at the moment. Will fix later.

I checked the dipstick at operating temperature with the engine off. On a level surface. Wiped it the first time and subsequent times and this is the 4th check in a row. I took the dipstick out trying not to touch the sides of the transmission.

tranny warm, shut engine off, level surface/ground

remove dipstick, wipe it off, re-insert, remove dipstick and read level,

always keep the dipstick pointed to the ground when reading the level, this way the fluid can not run up and give you a false higher reading,

assuming you did all of these things correctly, the level on your dipstick seems way too high,

nice sandals by the way

I am envy about the weather in your area.

As long you see a fluid between the lines you are fine.

If you dried the stick, then stuff it in and pull it out: Wherever the highest place you find wetness on the dipstick, is the level of the fluid.

If you see the wet line in the same place after trying this 3 or 4 times in a row, it's pretty safe to assume that's the actual level inside.
