2000 civic ex factory radio doesnt work !!

I have a 2000 civic ex coupe equipped with the factory radio . Ive been trying to get the radio working but when i tey to turn it on it doesnt do anything , only the lights around the buttons turn on when the headlighta are on.. I have 2 different keys for the car , one is to open the doors , which i had to go to Honda Dealership to get , and the other one is the one tht came with the car when i bought it , which it doesnt say honda on it , so i believe they lost the original key and changed the ignition cylinder .. BUT 2000 civic ex dont have a chip on the key so tht cant be the problem ..also i believe all 2000 civic ex come with keyless entry and alarm from honda , i do not have the remote . Also my dome light does work when i open the doors and it shuts off once their close.. so what could be the problem ?? Do i have to buy the remote or change the ignition cylinder to and oem one with the key ?? .. please someone help ! I dont want to throw in an aftermarket radio because i like the whole oem idea of it .

Thank You !

Did you check all fuses in both fuse boxes? There are 2 that run the radio. One of those may actually be labeled radio. The other may say back up.
