Will it ever drive again???
Will it ever drive again???
Had a skid out on a ramp this weekend due to wet conditions
...hit the driver's side front tire hard into a curb and then proceeded to drive over it. I heard a loud bang when it happened. I managed to drive home with it since I was close to home, but I knew it was big trouble because I was all over the place. You can see that the entire wheel is shifted about an inch or two back towards the dashboard. When I took the tire off, I found a bolt snapped from what I believe is the control arm (please correct me if I am wrong- it wouldn't be the first time) and the steering bar connecting the wheels (again not sure of the correct terminology) is pushed back and rubbing against metal. If I swap out the broken bolt, will this car ever work again??? I'm not sure why the wheel is shifted back, could it be that the frame is bent and I need to scrap the car before I invest more time and money into a lost cause??? Help!!!! Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Photos of the damage can be found in the Help folder at: http://tinypic.com/m/ig9jyc/4
Thanks again in advance for your time and assistance.

I can see where the bolt broke. The halves of the lower control arm came apart (even though they are bolted together, it is considered to be a single piece). Arm is junk.
You will need the lower control arm assembly.
Knuckle is tough to call, damage can be damn hard to see visually if it is only slight.
I can't see anything wrong with the steering parts (tie rod and tie rod end), the end is made with the bends in it.
You might be better off getting it to a competent mechanic for a thorough inspection.
I see another problem here:

While you are here, it looks like that caliper hose is twisted, nearly kinked. Unbolt the caliper and give it a spin to untwist that hose.
It should make a nice smooth gentle bend like the brake on the other side:
