1998 civic cx compression test

Hey everyone,

Let me first say this is my first honda. I paid 1300 for my little Hondo Civic with160,000. miles. the Problem I'm having is number one cylinder isn't working. I did a compression test on cylinder 1 and was getting 30. The other three I was getting 140 to 150. I did put oil and in cylinder 1 with no change at 30. Is this a common problem with these cars? What should I look for next?

Leak down test will tell you I it's rings, headgasket or valve issue

I'd probably say to first pull the valve cover and check valve adjustment. Tight valves can cause low compression.

Tight valves also burn if ignored too long.
