98 EX idle problems

I have a 98 EX with about 200k miles. The car runs great except I have some idle issues. My service engine light is on because it needs O2 sensors but I've never heard of these causing idle problems. I also checked my tps with a volt meter and it read 4.6 instead of 4.5 so I figured that was probably close enough but please tell me if I'm wrong. Here are the symptoms it has. When I first start it, it idles to high until I turn it off and restart it and it has to be completely warmed up to operating temp. At this point it usually idles good unless I drive it a lot, at this point it starts to idle low and rough and occasionally dies until I turn it off and restart and and a cools down a little bit. Please someone help. This is very annoying as I deliver pizzas and drive it a lot every day.

Re: 98 EX idle problems

Have you tried cleaning your IACV (Idle Air Control Valve)? It should be on or near your throttle body.
The o2 sensor relays information on how rich/lean your fuel system is running. It definitely wouldn't hurt to change it out. O'reilly's has the Bosch ones for the mid $60's and they're a BREEZE to replace once you lift your car, so there's no reason to keep your old one.

Avoid the universal ones though.
