Interior light always on even when doors are closed.
Interior light always on even when doors are closed.
Hey guys,
Got a bit of a problem in a 97 ek cxi civic hatch.
The interior light when in "door" position stays on at all times. Even when the doors are closed??
Any ideas?
I don't think it is the push button switches I think it has more to do with how the light is wired through the head unit. Btw the car still has the original head unit.
Hope youse can help.
Cheers

Is the "door ajar" symbol lit on the dash? Jamb switches are a big problem here, and a simple door misadjustment can be enough to keep the lights on.
You can remove each of the switches easily, remove a phillips screw on each and it will pull right out.

Nah mate that isn't illuminated at all on my dash. And I don't think my dash has that icon at all? Just had a look then and couldn't see anything. And I'm going to take the jamb switches out now and put voltmeter across the switch and test if the switches are faulty or not. I will let you know. Cheers

IDK if your car would have that icon or not.
Just remove the screw and pull the switch away from the body so it can't ground the wire, that will disable the switch. If you get all 4 (or 2 if a coupe) out, then it's not a switch problem. Wiring diagram would be next and go test at the back of the radio units.
