2000 Civic SE, Corrosion & Replacement issue

I have a 2000 Civic SE with about 350,000km on it.

While underneath it today, I poked around at some corrosion to see how bad that 'bad' was. The images I've attached are of the passenger side front.

The damage is not repairable, at least it does not look that way to me.

I am wondering if it is even possible to remove and replace the plate the is corroded here. I am concerned that a good pot hole hit will snap this right off considering the massive holes there are in the middle of the metal here.

Anyone have any thoughts on how big a job it would be to remove and replace it? I'm not even sure it'd be possible to find a suitable replacement, since it is a 6th generation and i'm assuming these parts changed considerably with later generations. I've looked thru my Hanes book and online, I'm not even sure what this plate would be callled specifically.

Appreciate any help, Thanks.

Re: 2000 Civic SE, Corrosion & Replacement issue

Still trying to figure out what it is called. I've looked around online today with no luck. It's bolted to the frame, so it looks like it's removable, and it appears to have suspension pieces tied into it. It has a wishbone shape look to it, but my understanding it the 'wishbones' are part of the suspension itself..and my 2000 was the last year that Honda used the wishbone suspension before going to a different design.

This is as close as I could find, and had to use a US car.

They call this area a rear beam, but the pic shows it at the front of the car.
Misleading.
Wish I could actually see under the car to compare.
I think what you are after is the stiffener? Can't tell for sure. IF this is even right.
