Engine Type
Re: Engine Type
It should be if it's an Si...if it's an EX, it would be a d16y8.
You can check by looking on the engine block right next to where it bolts to the transmission...theres a little flat spot that has the engine code stamped into it.
Also, the B16 has two cams, where as the d16 has one.

Re: Engine Type
I checked on the engine block and found D16Y8. Is it possible to have this in my SI coupe or do you think this motor was changed, because i only bought this car about 5 years ago. Now whenever i buy parts i have to ask for parts for a 1999 EX.
Re: Engine Type
It's highly unlikely that the car was manufactured that way...although if you check the vin # you can tell for sure...if its an EM1, then it's an Si and should have the B16, if it's anything else, then its a D16, unless it's JDM (eg, the EK4)
Re: Engine Type
That's why I meantioned chassis codes, the EM1 is the same in the US and Canada, the Si is not...in Canada, the Si is the same as the US's EX, where as the Canadian equivilent to the US Si is the SiR

Re: Engine Type
Nevertheless, the USDM ex is marketed in Canada as the Si model. If you had an SiR, your car would have a B16
