Rep Power: 0 Oil leak-mystery sensor by oil pressure sender
Hey, brand new to the site and need a little help.
I recently changed a leaking distributor O-ring and cleaned the area below it really well so I would know if the leak was fixed. After re-installing the distributor, I kept checking and noticed that there were small amounts of fresh oil just below it...but i could get my fingers under the actual distributor and it is dry. I even removed the distributor a few days later just to be sure I hadn't accidentally damage the new O-ring when installing it. It was completely dry right below it. I cleaned it again and today I did notice a small bubble of oil about to drip off of the sensor right below the distributor...the one right behind the oil pressure sender . I think it is slowly leaking from the threads and channeling back down the sensor (away from the engine). I can't find this part on any diagrams in my manual or on any schematics. I found a figure in my Haynes manual that only identified the Oil Pressure Sensor and nothing else.
I included a picture below...shown with the distributor removed.
I assume I can just carefully remove this sensor and re-install with liquid thread sealant? I just never like not knowing what I'm working on so I want to know what this part is...
Any help would be great...thanks.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Oil leak-mystery sensor by oil pressure sender
Both of those senders are for coolant.
Most oil leaks come from the distributor, the VTEC solenoid, or the valve cover gasket. The rubber gaskets and seals get hard and brittle after a bunch of time and many heat cycles.
Clean off all the oil residue, then throw a bunch of baby powder all over it. The powder will make leaks stand out after they start. You should be able to pinpoint the source this way.
