Angry 1997 civic auto transmission revs to 3500 rpm before changing gears

My transmission was revving to higher than normal rpm before changing to next gear. I put a different supposedly good transmission in the my 97 civic and the same thing is happening. Could it be something other tnan a transmission problem? Car only has 116k miles and in excellent condition otherwise.

My neighbor said something about a regulator but I don't have a garage and its too cold to drop transmission again. I have already
I spent way too much money on this car. In hindsight I should have sold car.

transmissions don't "rev" the engine does.

How high is higher than normal? Depending on how hard you press the gas will depend on how soon the transmission changes gears.
is your check engine light on?

I would say so, or no problem at all

In hindsight I should have sold car.
Why, cause you run into one problem that may not even be a problem?
