98 Won't Start - distributor sparking late?
98 Won't Start - distributor sparking late?
My '98 turns over but will not start. Seems like no spark. I took the distributor cap off and the spark only appeared once the car had stopped cranking. And even then somewhat delayed. Is that normal?
I have replaced the distributor cap, the wires, the fuel filter and on one attempt to get the car started I did smell fuel which makes me think the pump is working.
I had just finished a 400 mile trip when the car gave problems starting and eventually just never did.
I put a diagnstic computer on it and got:
- PO135 O2 sensor heater circuit
- PO700 trnsmisson control system
- PO740 torque converter clutch
I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem those would stop the car from starting.
Clearly I need HELP!!!
Many thanks.
