99 honda civic chirping
Disclaimer: I know next to nothing about cars; hence my online plea to those who know their stuff.
My car had been making a chirping noise before the radiator was replaced (a few days ago) but now it has gotten considerably worse. I'm not suggesting these two are related (see disclaimer) --
I'm essentially wondering if my car is safe to drive? I have an appointment with my mechanic to look it over but I am really terrified of driving it. I envision stalled cars, broken belts, smoke from the hood, etc etc.

Unfortunately for me, I HAVE to drive it -- as it gets me to work & back.
The car chirps loudly and annoyingly while on drive, park, sitting idly -- at all points in time basically.
Though I recently noticed that when I'm close to work, the noise gets a little quieter (but remains in the background). I don't know if that means anything. It definitely goes back to being loud and annoying when I arrive and put the car on park.
The car has about 125,000 miles on it.
I'm not too vain, but it's a bit off-putting to be stared at when people try to determine where the heck the noise is coming from (it's that loud). If nothing gives, I'm so ready to replace this honda with a newer one! I'm paranoid, what can I say.
Should I really be that concerned when driving? Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Re: 99 honda civic chirping
It's possible you can have worn belts. Have your mechanic check those when you bring the car in. That's like the only thing I can think of off the top which would make that noise. My AC belt has been chirping for 2 years. Lol. Nothing turning the radio up won't fix. Haha.

yeah its usually a belt. my a/c belt does it too, but only if the compressor is running. just have all the belts checked.
