Is it OK to jump start another car with a '99 Civic?
Is it OK to jump start another car with a '99 Civic?
My car (2000 Mitsubishi Galant) needs a jump and my friend with a '99 Civic says she thought she read that she shouldn't jump other cars with it. Is that true of Civics?
Thanks!

Re: Is it OK to jump start another car with a '99 Civic?
you can, just make sure and connect the cables properly. there is a certain order and placement for the cables otherwise it can damage both cars. you have to attach one cable to the chassis ground of the dead car i think too (not to the negative battery terminal). i can try to look for the diagram. if you do it wrong there is a good chance of either frying the main computer or triggering the SRS light. also you should never jump unless you have a battery in good condition. after jumping, both cars need to be driven around 15 mins at least to recharge the battery.

Thank you, I do know the proper procedure for jumper cable connections. I was just concerned about the specifics of the Civic. Thanks for your help!
