Drove with the E-Brake on....
Drove with the E-Brake on....
Okay, I have a 1998 Civic, 200,000kms on it.
Twice in the last week or so I have driven with the E-brake on simply because i was in a rush to get to class and wasn't paying enough attention. It was roughly 18km that I drove with the E-brake on all together.
Since then, I have noticed that my car is making weird noises and it sounds like it's coming from the front of the car, but I can't be entirely sure.
At some points it sounds like high pitched squeaking, at other times it sort of just sounds like metal rubbing on metal but it seems to quiet down and usually stop when I apply the normal brakes, and even when I'm just driving it, it's not always a constant noise. It tends to come and go but I haven't really narrowed it down to doing it at a specific time.
My check engine light has also been on for awhile but i recently had it checked and was told it was something to do with the emissions system and not to worry about it. Idk if that could have anything to do with the noise or not.
Eugh, Please help me!
Sincerely,
idiot.

Re: Drove with the E-Brake on....
Does it really go away because you apply the brakes, or because you stopped when you applied the brakes? When did you last have the rear brakes rebuilt? You might have finished them off with this stunt?
