96 civic hx no codes but has monitor issues
I have a 96 civic HX , the vehicle has no codes but for some reason the monitors are acting goofy. I drove it 100 miles then rechecked the monitors, It showed that I had 6 out of 7 reading. I took it to the smog shop that same day to get passed the smog. Once I got to the smog shop I turned off the car as there was 2 other cars before me. When it was my turn I pulled up to the bay and the tech said to turn off the car. I did that. Then he hooks up the OBD11 from the smog machine and tells me that there are only 3 out of the 7 monitors reading !!! Ok, now I'm confussed, I've never seen it where the monitors show reading 6 of 7 and then going backwards to only be reading 3 of 7 ! Now like I said, it runs good has no codes set but yet for some unknow reason I lost 3 monitors between my house and the smog shop ! Anyone ever have this happen to them ??? Please help if you can, thx in advance ![/QUOTE]
Re: 96 civic hx no codes but has monitor issues
It only sets readiness monitors. To re-set any you have to re-set them all (ECM/PCM re-set). I suspect one of you was reading it wrong. I hope you went to a no-pass no-pay place.
Re: 96 civic hx no codes but has monitor issues
Thanks for the fast reply lazlong. Well I have 2 scanners, MT2500 snap on, oldie but goodie, lol. I also have another that I use just to do quick code checks with. I'm 100% sure that I had 6 out of 7 reading at the time I checked it. But like i said, I've never seen monitors not read after seeing them reading. To the best of my knowlegde you can only reset all the monitors at the same time. I don't think there's any tool out there that will let you pick and choose what monitors you want to reset or not reset.
