Since i bought my 97civic ex coupe (automatic) in january, i've had a few problems. My gas mileage is only about 20-22 mpg most the time. I've gotten up to 25 or 26mpg once or twice. Also, the acceleration is really hard sometimes. I will press the gas but it will take a second or two for my car to respond. and when it does this it's either extremely sluggish, or the rpm's are extremely high. Other times its perfectly fine.

Well today was the first HOT day of the year where i live. Everytime i turned on my A/C i noticed that my car WILL NOT MOVE unless i pretty much press the gas all the way down. it will go like 5-10mph. When the light turns green i look like a freakn old lady in a buick trying to pull away. its a pitiful sight.

Anyone know why?

I am new to this forum, but i am not new to Forums. That being said, i did do a search but couldnt find anything about it, so if this has been addressed somewhere else i apologize.

Oh yeah: AEM cold air intake
Stage 1 Greddy Exhaust.
Besides some other cosmetic stuff he did to the car, those are the only mods. All were done before i bought it.

its possible your compressor clutch is starting to go bad and causing exces drag on the motor. it robs hp but not to the point where you cant drive normally. as for the lag when pressing the gas, it could be a vacuum leak or just a really trashed up motor with sludge all over. start by cleaning all the intake related parts and idle valve. i think you need a really complete tuneup with new everything and then www.auto-rx.com engine treatment.
