Drove through high water...

So I "accidentally" drove my EX through some high water last week and now I notice there is what I would describe as a squeaking/low growling sound coming from the belt/pulley area. Any idea what happened?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Drove through high water...

How does getting the belts or pulleys wet cause slipping though if it's properly tensioned?

Re: Drove through high water...

They got wet. Moisture can build up and cause slippage on the pulley. I've done it, and so have many others. A few days of driving should cure it.

Re: Drove through high water...

It just started yesterday though and I've already put on 1000 miles since I drove it through high water. It's dry by now so what can be the problem?

When's the last time you actually changed the belts? They do wear out over time.

Re: Drove through high water...

I wasn't paying attention and just drove through a ditch filled with water. It was as high as the top of the headlights.
