rear shocks/struts on 2000 civic

Rep Power: 0 rear shocks/struts on 2000 civic
New to the civic and forum and was wondering how hard it is to replace rear shocks on my civic.They are not a strut are they?I have done shocks on Fords before, but not familiar with Hondas at all.thanks

Just putting mine back on the car now. Get the 2 top nuts off & then the bottom bolt & the bolt just outboard attatching the lower control arm to the trailing arm out. One of these was rusted in there & took a bolt extractor to finally get it out. U need a spring compressor to get the shock apart & it helps to make an alignment mark all down one side to make sure the parts dont misalign while ur messing with the #@%& spring compressor getting it back together.

The rear lower control arm bolts tend to seize on these cars. I would highly suggest using an impact gun and slowly and carefully back the bolts off. Using a breaker bar can snap the bolt easily. Also using a high-power impact gun can break the bolt.
